ROME – An excellence of Salento craftsmanship is now at the helm of the “ceramics” category of Confartigianato Imprese. Antonio Colì, a 43-year-old from Cutrofiano and manager of the renowned family business “Fratelli Colì,” has been elected national president of ceramicists.
The Salento ceramist, elected during the latest assembly held in Rome, will serve for the next four-year term. Alongside him are Davide Servadei (Emilia Romagna), who served as president in the last term, Arianna Giannoni (Tuscany), Giovanni Pietro Rampini (Umbria), and Maria Teresa Maroso (Veneto), all members of the council.
Since 2009, Colì has been the provincial president of the “Artistic, Traditional and Quality Craftsmanship” category of Confartigianato Imprese Lecce and has been the regional president of the Ceramics category since 2012. He is also a member of the board of directors of the guarantee cooperative “L’Artigiana” and has served as provincial president of the ceramics consortium.
“In order to further enhance the associative activities for the benefit of the category,” Colì states, “it is essential to constantly monitor the economic landscape of the ceramics sector in Italy, implementing and strengthening current research activities, also with the support of Italian universities and other relevant bodies. It is crucial,” he adds, “for the development of the category to establish and intensify relationships with foreign partners, through various institutional initiatives both of a cultural nature (for example, organising themed conferences) and with commercial purposes (such as workshops and trade fairs).”
The mayor of Cutrofiano, Oriele Rolli, and the municipal councillor for Productive Activities, Tommaso Campa, express their heartfelt satisfaction. “One of our fellow citizens,” say Rolli and Campa, “has been elected to the top of such an important and vital category for our productive fabric. His appointment is a prestigious recognition of the passion he has demonstrated over many years of activity. We wish him,” they conclude, “to continue his career with the same enthusiasm and commitment.”
